LIP FILLERS

The lips are one of our most noticeable facial features that others see upon first impression.

Because they are getting so much attention, it’s not surprising that lip augmentations are one of the most common facial procedures today.

Medical providers perform more than 2.1 million lip filler procedures each year!

Lip filler injections may be worth considering if you are self-conscious about the appearance of your lips or want a fuller look or a bigger, plumper pout.

They can not only replace lost volume and smooth out wrinkles around the mouth area but also create improved definition and shape.

Fillers offer an immediate solution, and since they are not permanent, they are ideal for those who would like to change their appearance without making any long-term commitments.

Lips enhancements are minimally invasive procedures, however, you should expect some swelling and possibly bruising.

It will gradually improve, and you will see daily improvements post-treatment for the next several weeks.

This is because dermal filler works by binding to water molecules in the body, and it is a slow process that takes time to finalize.

How to Prepare for Lip Injections?

First of all, avoid blood thinning over-the-counter prescriptions such as aspirin and ibuprofen one week before the procedure.

It’s also better to avoid supplements like Gingko Biloba, garlic, ginseng and Vitamin E.

Two days before the procedure, prevent yourself from bleaching, waxing, or using any hair removal creams. You may consider taking Arnica.

Although it is not required, it will help lessen the bruises.

More importantly, don’t drink alcoholic beverages 24 hours before the procedure.

On the day of treatment, it’s best to arrive at the clinic with a clean face and without make-up.

Aftercare for lip fillers

An hour after getting lip fillers, apply an ice pack and take Arnica.

If necessary, you may take some analgesics to relieve pain.

Don’t massage, pick, or itch around the injection site since it may boost swelling and redness.

Remember that experiencing those things after surgery is normal and will disappear after a few days.

If there are any visible bumps, you can massage them. But don’t worry, firm areas will soften and straighten out usually within a few weeks.

Intense workouts immediately after your procedure are also not recommended, as you want your body relaxed to focus on localized healing of the lips.

The last rule to observe is to avoid excessive sun exposure, as UV rays can interfere with the hyaluronic acid in the lip fillers.
